Avascent’s Jon Barney to Speak on Strategies to Drive Global Expansion in the A&D Sector

WASHINGTON, DC – Avascent Managing Director Jon Barney will appear at the Defense Industry Offset Association’s annual Spring conference, and SpeedNews’ 11th annual Aerospace & Defense Industry Suppliers conference—both on May 2. The DIOA event will take place at the Marriott Gaslamp Quarter Hotel in San Diego; the SpeedNews event at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles.

…defense companies are actively pursuing strategies to expand globally, particularly in the BUSI markets (Brazil, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and India).
“As a result of the declines in the US and European markets, global aerospace & defense companies are actively pursuing strategies to expand globally, particularly in the BUSI markets (Brazil, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and India). However, too often, companies fail to evaluate their optimal joint venture and offset partners, their ideal global footprint, and an effective prioritization of opportunities,” Barney commented.

“Through Avascent Analytics’ capabilities, we have surveyed senior leaders in the global aerospace & defense sector and found that more than 9 in 10 see global markets as more important in the coming years. We also found most countries are less than effective in communicating their national priorities,” he continued.

DIOA seeks to advise attendees on strengthening their company’s strategic marketing efforts through effective offset planning. For more information about this conference, visit www.dioa.org.

SpeedNews will cover challenges faced by equipment manufacturers, business and corporate development executives, market analysts, and investment bankers. For more information about this conference, visit www.speednews.com

Barney oversees strategy, consulting, and M&A engagements for Avascent’s aerospace, defense, government services, and technology clients worldwide. His areas of focus have included international strategy expansion, innovation and adjacent market strategies, and growth through M&A. Barney has been a frequent speaker on business strategy at venues such as the World Economic Forum, The Aspen Institute, and Renaissance Weekend. A former U.S. Navy Officer, he holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
