WASHINGTON, DC – On March 11, please join President of the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR), Avascent’s Stephen Ganote, for the WSBR Flagship Lunch & Silent Auction at the annual SATELLITE 2014 Conference. Entrepreneur and aerospace veteran Tom Ingersoll, CEO of Skybox Imaging will be the headline speaker; Tom has more than 25 years of experience in the space and communications industry.
Skybox is poised to help revolutionize commercial satellite imaging. Based in Silicon Valley and blurring the lines between the satellite and advanced analytics industries, Skybox is currently in the process of building and deploying a fleet of compact satellites to provide unique, customized real-time images of planet earth to the mass-market; a capability traditionally reserved for the public sector or very large corporate buyers. As CEO of Skybox, Tom led the recent $70M Series C round from Khosla Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Canaan Ventures and Norwest Venture Partners.
This luncheon is the primary fundraising activity for WSBR’s Education Initiative, which provides support for a variety of STEM-related activities in the DC area. WSBR’s education efforts focus particularly on encouraging middle school engagement in STEM education by providing funding for Space Camp scholarships, launching student experiments to the ISS, and expanding local and national STEM outreach through partnerships with other organizations such as the Challenger Center.
Avascent is a proud corporate sponsor of WSBR.
