WASHINGTON, DC — On Thursday October 9th, President of Avascent Global Advisors Stephen Ganyard and Market Analyst at Avascent Alexander Alden presented at the US-ASEAN Business Council’s “Roundtable Discussion on Defense Procurement Trends in ASEAN.”
Mr. Ganyard and Mr. Alden highlighted trends in individual country spending, defense budget toplines, and regional spending drivers. In addition, they discussed airborne platform markets including fixed wing and rotorcraft, and maritime platform markets including surface vessels and submarines. Ganyard and Alden compared current 2014 defense spending levels with 2024 spending forecasts for Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Noted acquisitions in these markets, both present and future, included Malaysia’s recent award of a 2nd generation patrol vessel for littoral combat to DCNS, Indonesia’s award of its Chang Bogo Class submarine program to Dawoo, and Singapore’s need for a future 5th generation fighter.
Ganyard and Alden also touched on country strategic assessments for each of the above nations, and spoke on how Avascent Analytics underwrites all of Avascent’s consulting analysis in these markets.
