WASHINGTON, DC – Avascent’s resident handgun expert Mike Greene weighed in on the Army’s new request for proposal for a modular handgun system on Marketplace Business.
“There are six, seven, eight million concealed carry holders in the US, which is a lot larger number than most people realize…Those are regular civilians who are carrying a firearm every day.” – Mike Greene
Since this will be only the third official Army gun in history, preceded by the Colt M1911 for 70 years, and the Beretta M9 from 1985 until present, this contract carries more weight and profit than its face value. Law enforcement agencies and civilian enthusiasts will want to adopt the chosen weapon because of its federally sanctioned cache. Meanwhile, the civilian gun market is $7 billion per year, which serves to up the ante in this competition.
