Avascent joins Fellowship Program for Women Seeking to enter Space Industry
WASHINGTON, DC – Avascent, a strategy and management consultancy serving aerospace, defense and other government-driven markets, is pleased to announce that it has become a host organization for the Brooke Owens Fellowship Program.
The Brooke Owens Fellowship Program offers paid internships at leading aviation and space companies and organizations to women seeking their undergraduate degrees. The program was founded to honor the memory of Brooke Owens – who managed the NASA Aeronautics, Technology and Human Spaceflight accounts at the Office of Management and Budget, as well as previously working at the FAA and X-Prize, and being a qualified pilot. Three friends of Brooke, Lori Garver, General Manager of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and former Deputy Administrator of NASA, Cassie Kloberdanz Lee, Director of Aerospace Applications at Vulcan, Inc., and Vice President for Special Projects at Virgin Galactic, William Pomerantz established the program.
“We are honored to be among an incredible list of aviation and space institutions offering internships through the Brooke Owens Fellowship Program,” said Avascent President Steve Irwin. “The Fellowship provides an ideal opportunity to continue our efforts to encourage more women to join the aerospace industry.”
The Brooke Owens Fellowship Program is accepting applications now through 5 December 2016 for a 10- to 12-week summer internship. Fellows will also be connected with two experienced aerospace industry mentors, their intern class and, eventually, to the Brooke Owens Fellowship alumni community network.
