Hacking for Defense at Georgetown University

Georgetown University’s new Walsh School of Foreign Service Security Studies program, Hacking for Defense, brings together graduate students, corporate mentors, and the DoD and intelligence community to solve national security challenges using Lean Startup techniques. Avascent’s Joshua Pavluk and Jim Tinsley, who are mentors to some of the student groups, spoke with Chris Taylor, the Professor of the course, on what makes the course innovative and why the solutions frequently have real world applications.

Chris Taylor is a an adjunct associate professor of national security studies at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service Security Studies Program, where he teaches, “The Business of National Security” and “Hacking for Defense.” He is also a two-time defense industry CEO and entrepreneur, and was most recently the Senior Vice President for Strategy & Advanced Programs at a large defense contractor.
