Aleksandar D. Jovovic
Senior Associate
Alek Jovovic is a Senior Associate at The Avascent Group. Since joining the firm in 2007, Alek has advised large integrators, major services firms, as well as specialized technology and solutions providers on opportunities and market entry strategies. He has also grown Avascent’s energy and international stability operations practices.
As part of these efforts, Alek has assessed the irregular operations, international defense, and “smart power” markets. Within the firm's broader defense and civil government enterprise, he has evaluated opportunities in mission support, border, maritime & critical infrastructure security and preparedness, as well as defense education and training. As part of Avascent's energy practice, Alek has focused on advising major government solutions providers on emerging opportunities in energy services, renewable and tactical power generation, and the smart grid. More broadly, Alek has counseled clients on macro economic and political risk issues impacting domestic and international markets.
Previously, he was a consultant at Vantage Partners, and also served as an analyst at CENTRA Technology Inc., where he advised clients on international business and national and homeland security issues. He has also held research positions at the Brookings Institution and Georgetown University.
Alek holds an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He received his B.A. with honors in Government from Wesleyan University. He has most recently co-authored several articles focused on opportunities in energy and the international development space.
