Doug Berenson directs The Avascent Group's Defense & Aerospace Group. He has been with the firm since 1998. Doug specializes in analyzing defense and aerospace markets, providing clients with advice on US and international procurement trends, program assessments, marketing and competitive strategies, and budgetary assessments.
Doug’s work has focused on a number of product and technology areas, including ISR, unmanned systems, and battle management and command & control. In addition, Doug has done considerable work pertaining to changes in DoD customer processes, including the planning, programming, budgeting and execution (PPBE) system and the requirements generation and validation processes among the Services, the Joint Staff, and Combatant Commands.
Doug has published articles on defense markets and resources in Defense News, Armed Forces Journal, and Avascent’s own publication, The Avascent Review. He is a former defense reporter for the weekly trade journal, Inside the Pentagon, where he covered the defense budget and acquisition processes. He holds a B.A. in government from Connecticut College, and an M.A. in United States history from Georgetown University.
