Jon Barney oversees strategy and consulting engagements for The Avascent Group's aerospace and defense clients. Prior to joining Avascent, Jon served as an Executive Director in Russell Reynolds Associates’ Aviation, Aerospace and Defense Practice where he conducted C-level executive searches for aerospace and defense clients, private equity firms, infrastructure companies, systems integrators, software companies, and electronic product companies.
Previously, Jon held the position of Managing Director at Medley Global Advisors, a strategic advisory firm, and worked as the Director of Strategic Alliances at Military.com. Earlier in his career, as an Associate in Booz Allen & Hamilton’s strategy organization, he focused on the development of technology, financial, and pricing strategies.
After graduating with Honors from the United States Naval Academy, Jon began his career as an officer in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Presidential Military Assistant, an officer on a forward deployed destroyer, and a NATO fellow in Brussels, Belgium. Jon received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He has been published in the Harvard Business Review and was a speaker at the World Economic Forum in 2004.
