Vasco Fernandes has over 25 years experience as a leading business innovator, management consultant and advisor to leading private and public enterprises worldwide. He is a widely recognized expert in business strategy, operational performance improvement, and organization design. Mr. Fernandes has established and directed highly successful private sector consulting practices and regional operations in the U.S. and Europe. In addition to his work with private clients worldwide, Mr Fernandes has worked with leaders of large federal, state and local agencies in the design and successful roll out of large scale transformation initiatives.
Prior to joining The Avascent Group, Mr. Fernandes was a Vice President and Director at Mercer Management Consulting Inc. (now Oliver Wyman), and served as the managing partner of the firm’s DC office. His private sector clients included leading companies in transportation, travel, aerospace, energy and health care. Previously, as a London-based principal with Booz, Allen & Hamilton Inc. (Commercial Sector, now Booz & Co.), Mr. Fernandes led successful worldwide strategy and operations improvement initiatives for clients in various industries.
Mr. Fernandes has also been a leader in several start-ups and innovative enterprises, including: a $750 million merger (in transport and logistics); The SEED Foundation (rolling out a new model for urban education improvement); and the SEED Public Charter School of Washington DC (where he currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees). Mr. Fernandes received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Princeton University and a Master of Arts in Mathematical Statistics from the George Washington University where he was a Teaching Fellow.
