Mark Shields directs general management consulting assignments in the defense, aviation, infrastructure, and logistics sectors at Avascent. In 25 years of consulting experience, he has conducted strategy, market analysis, operations improvement, organizational restructuring, and e-commerce assignments for leading companies in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa. Much of his client work has been transformational, positioning clients for growth in new and adjacent markets, determining new product and service combinations, and changing competitive dynamics within markets.
In addition to his consulting experience, Mark has served at the executive level at Capital One, where he managed operations improvement initiatives for divisions in Canada and South Africa. He was also a vice president on the founding team of Military.com. Before receiving his M.B.A. from the Darden School of the University of Virginia, he served as a Regular Army Infantry Officer. He holds a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
