Timothy R. Garnett’s Bio

Timothy R. Garnett is a founder of Avascent and leads the M&A and transaction support practice at Avascent.

Mr. Garnett provides strategic guidance on inorganic growth strategies and critical business evaluations to corporate development teams and financial sponsors and advisors (private equity, debt providers, investment banks) focusing on the aerospace, defense and public sector-focused industries (education, health, public safety, civil services).

Mr. Garnett operates across various stages of the transaction lifecycle, including capabilities inventories, opportunity gap analyses, buyside candidate screenings, commercial due diligence, post-merger integration, and sell-side strategic positioning. Within each of these service offerings, Mr. Garnett offers unique perspectives on market environmentals, business functionality and value propositions, operational dynamics and financial performance.

During his time with Avascent (and DFI), Mr. Garnett has worked directly with corporate development leadership from a Fortune 100 companies and leading private equity firms in identifying, evaluating and integrating transaction opportunities. Mr. Garnett and his teams have supported over 30 transactions per year in the last three years, including government services industry headline deals such as TASC, EIG, DynCorp, Xe, and SRA.

Prior to joining The Avascent Group, Mr. Garnett worked in the international institutional finance industry as equity research editor for Regent European Securities in Moscow, Russia. While with Regent, he provided research and analysis for a variety of industrial sectors across Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Education

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary with a BA in political science.
