Service and Volunteer Activities

Service is core to Avascent’s corporate identity and principles; we endeavor for our staff not only to provide value to our clients but also to contribute to the broader community. To live out these principles, we engage in two firm-wide Days of Service in addition to a variety of pro bono and community service activities throughout the year.

Service Never Sleeps (SNS), launched in 2015 as a program under the Aspen Institute’s Urban Innovation Lab, mobilizes communities to exercise “Allyship,” an active way of life that utilizes bridge-building to ensure equality, opportunity, and inclusion for everyone.

As an SNS Corporate Partner, Avascent conducts one-day workshops and months-long engagements with area nonprofits, helping with planning, program structure, data collection, and other key functions. Each year two Avascent employees participate in SNS’s Service Fellowship program, partnering with an area nonprofit and receiving allyship training.

LightHouse DC helps formerly homeless and low-income residents in the DC Metro region transition to affordable housing. Established in 2017, LightHouse has helped over 211 residents create furnished, stable homes. The organization moves residents and furnishes homes in order to restore dignity and create stability for the residents, which leads to better health, employment, and education outcomes.

Since 2017, Avascent has supported LightHouse DC on its 9/11 Day of Service, donating the resources to furnish a home for a family and helping the LightHouse DC team set up new homes for residents.

Cycle for Survival (CFS) is an indoor team cycling event that raises money for rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, supporting pioneering research and clinical trials. Since its inception in 2007, CFS has raised $231 million. The high-energy indoor cycling events occur annually in multiple cities across the US, providing a tangible way to fight back against cancer.

Avascent participated in Cycle for Survival in Washington, DC, for the first time in 2019, raising more than $4,000, and we look forward to continuing our partnership!
