DC-based consultancy to provide pro bono consulting services to local non-profits

WASHINGTON, DC – Avascent, a leading aerospace, defense and government consultancy based in Washington, D.C., has launched a partnership with Service Never Sleeps, whose mission is to mobilize young professionals to combat social justice issues through service and civic engagement. The initial phase of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership will take place over the next six months, during which Avascent staff will donate consulting support and funding to help local non-profits solve strategic and operational challenges.

The partnership grew out of Avascent’s 2016 9/11 Day of Service during which 40 Avascenturians spent the day working with six local non-profits to address specific challenges they were facing. The current partnership reprised the one day workshops during the company’s ten-year anniversary celebration on February 1st. In addition, Avascent has partnered with SNS to launch a new program that will see eighteen of its consultants and analysts continue to support the efforts of two participating non-profits, the Josh Anderson Foundation and Changing Perceptions, over a six-month period. Finally, Avascent Senior Analyst Alisha Anderson has been selected to participate in SNS’s yearlong Fellowship program, through which she will support Empowered Women International as their Development Fellow, and participate in monthly leadership development activities alongside other DC-area young professionals.

“Avascent has long held service days and events to give back to our community, and we are always looking for ways to be more impactful with our CSR efforts; our partnership with Service Never Sleeps offers the opportunity to help local nonprofit organizations in a way that is tailored toward our skills,” said Debbie Miller, Avascent Senior Analyst and Partnership Organizer.
Whitney Parnell, CEO of SNS added, “We are excited to have Avascent as our first corporate partner where they have already implemented a thorough service program, so local organizations are benefiting from their skills. It’s so inspiring to see employees volunteer their time so enthusiastically to organizations who need those skills.”

The two local non-profits that Avascent will work with over the next six months are The Josh Anderson Foundation, whose mission is to provide teenagers with the mental health education, resources and support so that they will never turn to suicide; and Changing Perceptions, whose goal is to create a life and career pathway for formerly incarcerated individuals that breaks the cycle of incarceration and intergenerational poverty.
