New Principal brings over a decade of industry and equity research experience to Avascent

WASHINGTON, DC – Avascent, the leading global aerospace, defense and government consultancy, is pleased to announce that Christopher Higgins is joining the firm after spending the past decade in equity analysis, investor relations, and corporate finance. As a Principal at the firm, Chris will bolster Avascent’s support for corporate development organizations and executive leadership as they craft strategies to address today’s competitive and complex A&D sectors while also satisfying the interests of the investment community.

Prior to joining Avascent, Chris served as the Senior Equity Analyst at Morningstar for aerospace and defense, generating stock calls for buy-side clients. During his time at Morningstar, he distinguished himself through his thoughtful research and analysis, winning awards for outstanding research and ranking among the top analysts while also appearing regularly in the press and on TV.

Before Morningstar, Chris served in Corporate Strategy, Corporate Finance, and Investor Relations positions with Airbus in both the US and France. At Airbus, he supported senior leadership on a broad spectrum of strategic and financial issues, gaining insight into the global forces shaping the aerospace and defense landscape.

Prior to Airbus, Chris served as an Associate at DFI International, the predecessor to today’s Avascent.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Chris back to Avascent,” said Steve Irwin, Avascent President. “Senior industry leaders are constantly balancing the needs of their multiple constituencies, and it is critical that strategic recommendations are framed and delivered in terms that shareholders will support. Chris’ deep substantive expertise will provide unique context to Avascent’s clients and enhance the relevance and impact of our work across the board.”

Added Tim Garnett, Avascent Managing Director and leader of the firm’s M&A practice, “Chris is an incredible addition to our M&A team – the combination of tremendous A&D depth, world-class corporate development experience and unique institutional shareholder perspective is the ultimate triple threat.”

“I look forward to contributing my experience in both industry and equity research to Avascent and its clients,” said Higgins. “This is a unique opportunity for me to work alongside a talented team of consultants who are dedicated to solving the complex business challenges that aerospace and defense companies face.”
