Avascent awarded Digital Earth Canada contract by Canadian Space Agency
OTTAWA – Avascent is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Contract “Option Analysis Studies for Earth Observation (EO) Analytics Platform – Digital Earth Canada” by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). The work under this contract will support the CSA and many other Government Departments.
In the era of Big Data, a paradigm shift is underway in the storage and analysis of Earth Observation (EO) data. Digital Earth Canada (DEC) is proposed as a Canadian EO exploitation platform that embodies the principle of free, open and accessible data. As part of its future activities to provide a powerful networked system to fuel innovation in EO data applications and address major challenges, the CSA Space Utilization Directorate has contracted Avascent. Executed in partnership with the RLD Consulting, this project will support the work of many stakeholders across the Government of Canada including Natural Resources Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food, Environment and Climate Change Canada and many others.
“This work offers us an exciting opportunity to collaborate with the Government of Canada on such an important file with far reaching implications. DEC has the potential to impact Canadians from coast-to-coast-to coast by promoting agricultural efficiencies, preserving natural resources, fighting climate change and so much more. We are honored to have been selected to contribute to this important work. ” said Michael Petric, Director and head of Avascent’s Ottawa office.
Ray Deluke, a partner with RLD Consulting & Executive Coaching said, “We’re excited to bring together the highly complementary skillsets of our teams for this important engagement for the Canadian Space Agency and the Government of Canada.”
