40-Under-40WASHINGTON, DC–M&A Advisor has named Avascent Managing Director Tim Garnett as one of its “40 under 40.” Founded in 1998, M&A Advisor offers insights and intelligence on middle market activities and has established a premier membership network of mergers and acquisitions, turnaround and finance professionals. Its “40 under 40” awards program, now in its 4th year, is designed to recognize emerging business leaders.

Tim Garnett, Avascent founding member and head of the company’s M&A and transaction support practice, was honored in the Service Provider Category. The organization will celebrate all honorees with a black tie gala at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan this October.

“We’re proud to see Tim’s work and his broader contributions recognized,” says Steve Irwin, President of Avascent. “His leadership within our company is invaluable, and we look forward to expanding our M&A practice under his guidance,” Irwin continued.

“As honored and pleased as I am by the recognition, the award is as much a reflection of the quality of the teams, the analytical rigor and depth of knowledge Avascent brings to its transaction advisory services,” commented Garnett.

Mr. Garnett provides strategic guidance on inorganic growth strategies and critical business evaluations to corporate development teams and financial sponsors focusing on the aerospace, defense, and public sector-focused industries.  He operates across various stages of the business growth cycle, including capabilities inventories, opportunity gap analyses, M&A candidate screenings, target due diligence, and post-merger integrations.

During his 13 years with Avascent (and its predecessor, DFI International), Mr. Garnett has worked directly with leadership from Fortune 100 companies and leading private equity firms in identifying, evaluating, and integrating transaction opportunities.  Mr. Garnett and his teams have supported over 30 transactions per year in the last four years, including government services industry headline deals such as EIG, DynCorp, SRA, and Deltek.

Mr. Garnett graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary with a BA in political science.
