Avascent Releases Defense Budget Explorer

 In Company News

In response to “A Budget for America’s Future,” the President’s Budget Proposal for FY2021, Avascent today releases a web-based tool that provides visualizations and analysis of the FY2021 US Defense Budget data quickly and easily.

The Defense Budget Explorer, developed by the Avascent Analytics team, provides a free, web-based look at the composition of the investment budget plans of the US Defense Department (DoD). With this tool, users can readily understand how the DoD plans to increase or decrease spending over the Future Years Defense Plan.

“Every year, the DoD publishes detailed information on spending plans in congressional justification documents, but the information is not organized in a way that makes it useful to the very professionals who need it,” said Doug Berenson, managing director, Avascent Analytics. “That is where our Defense Budget Explorer comes in.”

The Defense Budget Explorer allows users to highlight and visualize DoD modernization programs at the level of the Program Element (PE). The tool covers all line items across the Procurement and Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) accounts, enabling users to group program elements by service customer, major program franchise, budget account and sub-account, or by broad capability categories, such as air, land, sea, space, and cyber.

While Avascent offers the Defense Budget Explorer as a free resource, the firm also provides a much more powerful, in-depth budget analysis tool to its Avascent Analytics clients, as part of its portfolio of market intelligence tools that help defense leaders and analysts make informed strategic and tactical decisions.
